Transportation Liaison Community of Practice
A community of practice (COP) for transportation liaisons and liaison managers that promotes best practices and provides insight into emerging questions and issues

What is the Transportation Liaison Community of Practice?

The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Transportation Liaison Community of Practice (CoP) provides resources, information, and best practices for transportation liaisons and liaison managers, State departments of transportation, and public entities receiving funding from the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) under title 23 or chapter 53 of title 49, such as resource and regulatory agency staff.

The FHWA established this website to foster a greater understanding of the roles and benefits of transportation liaisons, as well as facilitate access to resources and opportunities for innovation.

The FHWA first launched the CoP in March 2012, in response to input and feedback provided by transportation liaisons at a session held at the International Conference on Ecology and Transportation during the summer of 2011 and through subsequent webinars and surveys. The website originally served as a centralized source of professional support, knowledge sharing, and networking opportunities for transportation liaisons.

Over time, FHWA has adjusted the site to fit the needs of its users. Today, the CoP acts as a “one-stop-shop” for liaison resources, including sample agreements, publications, and relevant agency resources.

We encourage visitors to this site to browse through the resources and share your feedback on additions or other questions you may have. Please contact LiaisonCOP@dot.gov with any feedback.
