Description: The Arizona Department of Transportation, the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Arizona Division, and US Forest Service (USFS) Arizona region are developing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to support the preservation of Arizona’s native ecosystems and to improve public safety. Under the MOU, the three agencies will cooperatively manage invasive species and hazardous vegetation along those public roadways managed by ADOT that pass through National Forest System lands. The MOU coordinates the work of ADOT, FHWA, and USFS to identify weed problems, inform the public of proposed herbicide spraying, and control invasive weeds and hazardous vegetation.
