Description: The Hawaii 2050 Sustainability Plan was developed through a two-year effort of soliciting input from citizens throughout Hawaii’s islands, using tools ranging from community meetings and Internet communications to scientific polling techniques. The Plan’s Task Force met with over 10,500 people, including county planning directors, policy makers, and experts, as well as dozens of youth, community, business, environmental, and labor organizations. The Sustainability Plan reveals that an overwhelming majority of people in Hawaii want a balanced approach to Hawaii’s future, where economic, social, and environmental goals are in balance.
