Description: In September 2001, the New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) signed a Programmatic Wetland Finding for all Federal-aid projects that are classified as Categorical Exclusions (CE) and issued a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers permit. Under this programmatic finding, no individual wetland findings need to be prepared for projects classified as CEs. However, projects require an individual wetland finding if the preparation of an Environmental Assessment or Environmental Impact Statement is necessary.

In April 2003, NHDOT and FHWA signed a Programmatic Floodplain Finding for all Federal-aid projects classified as Categorical Exclusions (CE) with an Army Corps of Engineers permit. As a result of this programmatic finding, no individual floodplain findings need to be prepared for projects classified as CEs. However, projects require an individual floodplain finding if the preparation of an Environmental Assessment or Environmental Impact Statement is necessary.
