Description: The Vermont Agency of Transportation (VTrans) has developed a state Historic Bridge Program to help preserve Vermont's bridges. VTrans consults with State Historic Preservation Officer (SHPO) and local communities to determine future preservation plans in addition to following regular 4F procedures. Individual bridges are also compared to the entire set of bridges that exist in Vermont so that unique design and/or engineering features are recorded and receive higher prioritization.

The Historic Bridge Program initiatives cover the following:
- Historic Truss Bridge Plan
- Historic Covered Bridges
- Historic Bridge Easements
- Rehabilitation Projects
- Adaptive-Use Projects
- Education Programs
